We have lived in the area for the last 7 years and, as we always get asked, here are a few of our favourite things to do in the region.

FREE tastings before and after lunch are always interesting.

Start off at the Natural Olive Oil Company in Puzey Rd, Great tastings of oil and olives, and their bath products are fantastic, then head off to Hay Shed Hill for your lunch, then go to the Marg River Chocolate Factory for a sample of choccies and coffee, then Providore next door has some great sampling of chutnies, jams, spreads and more.

Restaurants, Wineries and Breweries

Hay Shed Hill

Great platters with very different foods, fabulous wood fired pizza, great cheese, wines are good, the setting is nice... and the beer battered chips are the best.

Arimia

Fabulous coffee and cakes, nice wine, and Lunch on a sunny day is just gorgeous on the verandah.

Clairault Winery

Fabulous gourmet platters and great wine.

Clancys Fish Pub

It's a bit noisy on a busy weekend, but the seafood is excellent. If you like hot chillies, then try the "Fried Mice" for entre. Chilli cheese filled Jalopeno peppers... Yum!

The seafood platter is always excellent.

Wise Winery

Fantastic views at lunchtime, and the food is always excellent, as are their wines.

Wills Domain

Everyone says its fantastic, but I’ve not been myself. Nice views though.

Woody Nook

Fabulous platters and excellent home cooked meals - hamburgers pasta etc. Always good.

Aravina

One of my favourites. The gardens and outlook and whole ambience of the place is gorgeous. Food and wine are tops. Check for lunchtime specials in off peak times. Even if you don’t eat, go for a tasting and see the gardens and gift store, car museum and property.

Flutes

Great food and wine, ask if you can see the secret garden.

Goanna Gallery

A must if you like a cooked breakfast, especially if your staying at The Rise Retreat as it's just a short walk away.

Saracen

A must see, if not just for the architecture.

If you like beer, the beer sampling tastings are great

Lawrence winery

The building and the rose gardens are just magnificent, and ladies, make sure you go to the toilet! The toilets are filled with original artwork and in the old style. Check out the chandelier in the foyer made from wine glasses!

Mad Fish winery

Wines are excellent, and the building and gardens quite special. More austere than Lawrence, but equally beautiful.

Palmers winery

Fantastic food, wine and service.

Make sure you book!

Cape Lavender Café

Recently opened on Caves Rd, the Lavender scones are unusual, and very nice.

Little Fish

LOVE it.

The blackened fish is especially nice.

Servings are large, so make sure you're hungry when you go.

Bootleg Brewery

Great fish and chips and beer tastings.

The Growers

Great if you're looking for some cheaper wines.

Willuna Olive Oil sells from there as well, excellent value for virgin Olive Oil.
